Friendly Fires

I will be touring with Friendly Fires at the end of September, which i'm really looking forward to. Friendly Fires are a new band who have just been signed by XL Recordings (previously home of Dizzee). They are sought of indie/electro and I think they'll be massive!

They supported Jack Penate earlier this year with me and we got on really well and they are sick live, watch out for the cow bell!

They have a single out at the moment called 'Jump in the pool,' which has already been playlisted by Radio 1. They're releasing their self titled album September 1st and Paul Epworth will be on production duties, he produced 'Foundations' for Kate Nash and has worked with Kano, Bloc Party, Sam Sparro and Plan B. So make sure you look out for that!

There is a couple of FAKES on eBay. One of them is even calling themselves 'Tinchy Stryder'!! They're not me! You CANNOT buy real SITH tees on eBay - so don't be fooled! There is also a site called 'zazzle' that has some really bad looking fakes - do not be conned!

Well, I've been pretty busy over the past few weeks. Firstly BIG thanks to everyone who has copped Stryderman so far, if you haven't - what the hell are you doin?!?! Go to iTunes NOW!!!!

The best result of all this busyness (is that a word??) (and all the lack of blogging) is some SERIOUS new tunes coming your way very soon!!! My next single is a straight banger made by a stupidly talented new producer, he's gonna be making hits for years to come, trust me!! I can't wait for you lot to hear this one. Its coming out in October so it should hit your ears very soon...I've also been back in the studio with loads of other people (I'm not telling who yet, but they're all HIT makers!!) and jumped on the remix to Ironik's next single....

I've been doing a ton of P.A's so thanks to anyone who has come along to those, they've been a lot of fun, more to come, make sure you check out the dates at my myspace.

Spent a while abroad, the big trip to Malia with the Westwood, Skepta and Ghetto was jokes. If you haven't already heard the banter then check the videos at the bottom of this post!! I have to big up Westwood for taking us out there, it was a funny funny few days.

Words, Spyro and me went and did Channel 4's Transmission show, that was heavy, I met a few other bands there - who were all cool - Scouting For Girls were getting silly amounts of free clothes, I didn't realise it was them that did 'She's So Lovely' until after the day - BIG tune!! Here's my dressing room (the only photo I did all day - rubbish!)

Swear there's more stuff to tell you but my minds gone totally blank, I'm gonna be putting big effort into keeping this up to date like I used to, there's loads of things I need to show you all that I'm feeling right now!!

Well the big day is coming. STRYDERMAN is released tomorrow. It seems like a long time since this first started getting promoted and so much has happened so quickly. I've got to say I wouldn't have thought when the promo started off that by the time this day came it would be coming out on a big label...would be on Radio 1's B-List...would be on soooo many video channels....I'd be doing appearences on terrestrial tv channels....its ALOT!! So a BIG thanks to all who have helped it get there by requesting, texting in, doing whatever it was that has helped this tune. And a MASSIVE thanks to the DJ's who have championed this at radio: Ras Kwame, Westwood, Trevor Nelson, Zane Lowe, Jo Whiley, Fearne Cotton, Greg James, Semtex, Target, Cameo, Swerve, Twin B - and everyone else - that list is just the ppl I have heard playing it!

All thats left now is to make sure that it does as well as it can, so please please if you like the tune go to itunes, 7digital, napster etc. etc. WHATEVER you use and BUY IT!! Or if you'd rather get a CD in your hand then wait until August 4th and get the single (which includes Breathe and the Wiley remix).

Glasgow Show Cancelled!

Just a quick one for anyone reading who was coming to my show at The Soundhaus in Glasgow on June 29th - it has been cancelled.

The reason is that my agent cannot get hold of the promoter who booked it at all and he or she hasn't been in touch.

This has happened to me before, its very frustrating because often it happens at even later notice than this and people assume its your fault when it is actually someone booking you months in advance and then going awol!!

Anyway if the person who booked me is reading then get in touch asap!

Hopefully I'll be back up in Scotland soon anyway, I like it up there, big up everyone in the crowd at the ABC when I supported Jack Penate - you were live!

Lil Wayne is the first rapper since 50 Cent to sell a million copies or over in the albums first week of release. 50 Cents' 'Massacre' sold 1.1 million copies in its first week of release in 2005.

Lil Waynes' highly anticipated third installment of 'The Carter' series has sold over a million copies since it was released last Thursday in America and has topped the Billboard album chart.

Weezy is definitely the biggest rapper at the moment and I think the album is sick. I like 'Got money.' You lot need to check it out.

Adulthood is out in cinema's nationwide on Friday 2oth June, so this Friday! I was meant to make it down to the premiere in the West end however it was at 9:30am and I had a show the night before. So that was asking alot!

I'm really looking foward to seeing it, should be sick. Big up Bashy and Maniac who have made the theme tune called 'Kidulthood 2 Adulthood' and it's another smash from Maniac.

The background: You may have seen Tinchy Stryder's name about, or seen him name-checked on blogs or articles about grime, but he's no old-timer. In fact, Stryder, real name Kwasi Danquah, who lives in Tower Hamlets but was born in Ghana, has only just turned 21. He started making music with his group Ruff Sqwad when he was 13, at 16 he was a pirate radio DJ, he's recorded with Wiley and Kano, remixed Mike Skinner and toured with Jack Penate and Bedouin Soundclash. And he was the only nominee at the 2007 MOBO awards signed to an indie label, Takeover, run by two teenagers, Archie and Jack (one of them the son of the Liberal Democrat MP for Norwich), who financed their operation by selling T-shirts on eBay. They've sold 13,000 to date bearing the slogan Star in the Hood, the title of Stryder's album and an expression of his determination to stay in touch with his roots but not get dragged down by ghetto misery, hence his imminent tour of schools. "It's important to show that black males aren't all about looking threatening and robbing your granny," he quips, glock in hand. "It's not easy growing up in an inner-city area, but I want to show people you can take that experience and turn it into something positive."

Stryder's latest single is positive: basically, if you liked John Carpenter's buzzing, bass-heavy synth-instrumental for his movie Assault On Precinct 13 but wished it had a cockney raggaman rapping rapid-fire rhymes about London life over the top, you'll love Stryderman. Produced by Fraser T Smith, who's worked with everyone from Kano to Craig David (Stryder's got another track, Something About Your Smile, which is a bid for the pop-R&B/garage-lite demographic), Stryderman is accompanied by a video directed by Mighty Mo, responsible for recent clips for Lethal Bizzle and Roll Deep. A cake-and-eat-it affair that nails fashionistas and critiques hip-hop culture while showing Stryder parading about with models in shiny bling, it features a cameo of Tim Westwood shamelessly wearing a Star in the Hood T-shirt. But don't let that put you off, nor the fact that Stryder's a not-so-secret fan of Phil Collins: Stryderman is a bowel-quaking behemoth that we hesitate to call "booty-shaking" but can't think of a sensible alternative.

My team Man Utd first game (16th August) is against Newcastle Utd. Good game starting the season off with at Old Trafford. I think it will be a routine win seeing as we are at home.

I think the league, this year, will be tougher with Scolari in charge of Chelsea and with some of the signings Liverpool are making. Also there is the chance we could be losing Cristiano Ronaldo which would obviously be a big loss.

I was a bit gutted when i saw that Floyd Mayweather JR has retired. I thought a rematch between him and Ricky Hatton was going to happen, obviously not now! Floyd Mayweather is definitely the pound for pound best in the world.

He retires with his 39-0 record which isn't that bad! There was talk of a rematch between him and Ricky Hatton in 2009 however it seems those hopes are now dashed, for the time being. Floyd Mayweather has said before that he will never fight again. For Example after his win last year against Oscar De La Hoya he said he would never fight again. In December he fought Ricky Hatton.

So maybe he is trying to push his pay up for his next fights. There was a proposed rematch between him and De La Hoya on September 20th.

Floyd Mayweather is the best boxer of recent times and I think we'l see him again.

I was reading through Radio 1's new playlist yesterday and if you have a look through it here: www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/playlist/

You'll see that whether their songs are particularly 'grimey' or not grime artists are making big progress in uk popular music. Wiley and Dizzee are both on the A-List and DJ Ironik is on the 1-Upfront.....hopefully I can join them soon with Stryderman....

Let me know what you think of the tunes that are on that list (which is really the 'holy grail' for any artist releasing in the UK). I like all three of the tunes and artists.

Just read this very good piece by the actor Lennie James, here is his open letter to young men of Britain as printed in The Observer newspaper today.....

To whom it may concern,

My name is Lennie James. I am a 42-year-old father of three. I grew up in south-west London. I was brought up by a single mother. I was orphaned at 10, lived in a kids' home until I was 15 and was then fostered. I tell you this not to claim any special knowledge of how you've grown, but to explain how I have, and from where I draw my understanding.

I want to talk to you about the knife you're carrying in your belt or pocket or shoe. The one you got from your mum's kitchen or ordered online or robbed out of the camping shop. The knife you tell yourself you carry for protection, because you never know who else has got one.

I want to talk to you about what that knife will do for you. If you carry it, the chances are you will be called on to use it. It is a deadly weapon, so if you use it the chances are you will kill with it. So after you've killed with it, after you've seen how little force it takes for sharpened steel to puncture flesh. After your mates have run away from the boy you've left bleeding. When you're looking for somewhere to dash the blade, and lighter fluid to burn your clothes. When your blood is burning in your veins and your heart is beating out of your chest to where you want to puke or cry, but can't coz you're toughing it out for your boyz. When you are bang smack in the middle of 'Did you see that!' and 'Oh, Jesus Christ!' here's who to blame...

Blame the boy you just left for dead. Blame him for not believing you when you told him you were a bigger man than him. Blame him for not backing down when you made your chest broad, bounced into him and told him about your knife and how you would use it. Blame him for calling you on and making you prove yourself. Tell yourself if he had just freed up his phone or not cut his eyes at you like he did, he wouldn't be choking on his blood and crying for his mum.

Then blame your mum. When the police are banging down her door looking for you, or she hears the whispers behind the 'wall of silence', tell her it's all her fault for being worthless. Cuss her out for having kids when she was nothing but a kid herself, or for picking some drug or some man over you again and again. Even if she only had you and devoted herself to you, even if she is a great mum, blame her anyway. Blame her for not being around more to make sure you took the chances she was out working her fingers to the bone to give you.

When you're done with her, blame the man she picked to make you with. Blame him for being less than half the man he should have been. When he comes to bail you out and starts running you down for the terrible thing you've done, tell him straight: 'I did what I did coz you didn't do what you should have done.' Even if he did right; respected your mother, worked to provide for his family financially and spiritually, taught you right from wrong and drummed it home everyday... Even if he nurtured you as best he could, blame him for the generation of men he comes from.

The one that allowed an adolescent definition of manhood to become so dominant. The one that measures a man by how many babymothers he has wrangling his offspring, or by how 'bad' his reputation is on the streets of whatever couple of square miles he chooses to call his 'ends'.

Damn them for letting you believe that respect is to be found with gun in hand or knife in pocket. Damn them and everyone who feeds the myth of these gangsters, villains, thieves and hustlers. Anyone who makes them heroes while damning hard-working, educated, honest men as weak, sell-outs or pussies.

If you are black, blame white people for the history of indignities they heaped on you and yours. For the humiliation of having to go cap-in-hand or get down on bended knee or having to burn shit down before you are afforded something so basically fundamental as equality. If you are white, blame black folk and Muslims for taking all your excuses. Failing that, blame a class system that keeps you poor and ignorant so the 'uppers' and 'middles' can feel better about themselves.

You have good reason to blame them all. I wouldn't be you growing up now for love nor money. Your generation has so little room to manoeuvre. We had more space to step around the bullshit. We weren't excluded at the rate you lot are. Teachers hadn't given up or lost their authority over us. They still tried to protect and guide us even through our most disruptive years.

The police stopped and searched us, but we fought that right out of their hands - we hoped into extinction. But they want to bring back that abusive practice. They are still hooked on punishment rather than prevention. They seem ignorant to the fact that they are feeding you acceptance of an already prevalent gang mentality. As far as you can see, the police are not protecting and serving you, they are coming at you like just another street gang trying to boss your postcode.

When I was where you are now, generations of state agencies, social services, policy-makers and politicians had not abdicated all responsibility for me. We weren't left to our own devices like you have been. Is it any wonder that you end up expressing yourself in such a violently pathetic way?

We should be ashamed. I am. You have shamed us into a desperate need to do something about ourselves. We have collectively failed you and we should take all the blame that is ours for that... but so should you.

I blame you. I blame you because as a generation you are selfish, self-centred and have little or no empathy for anyone but yourselves. You are politically stunted and socially irresponsible and... you scare us. What scares us most is that you would rather die than learn. Your only salvation may be that still most of you aren't playing it out dirty. The vast majority of young men, even with all that is stacked against them, are finding their way around the crap. The boy you will kill, should you continue to carry that knife, almost certainly had the same collective failures testing him. He probably felt no less abandoned and no less scared. He also, almost certainly, wasn't carrying a knife.

Whatever it seems like, whatever you've read, whatever you tell yourself about protection being your reason, statistics show the life you take will be that of an unarmed person. That is what that knife will do for you. It will make you escalate a situation to where it is needed. It will give you a misguided sense of confidence. It will make you the aggressor. That knife will make you use it. It will bring you nothing worth having. There is no respect there. The street may give you some passing recognition, but any name you think you might make will soon be forgotten.

Your victim will be remembered long after you. Name me one of the boys who killed Stephen Lawrence. Once you've bloodied that knife you may as well be dead because you'll be buried for 10 to 20 years. Banged up for that long, only a fool would look back and think it was worth it. You'll be nothing more than a sad, unwanted, unnecessary statistic.

If you were mine, this is what I would tell you. I would make myself a big enough man to beg. I'd get down on bended knees if I had to. I would beg you to take that knife out of your pocket and leave it at home. I would tell you that I know you are scared and lost and that I know the risks involved in what I'm asking you to do. I know that what we could step around, you have to walk through, and that there is always some fool who isn't going to make it any other way but the wrong way. I'm just begging you not to be that fool.

Be a better man than that. Let the story they tell of you be that you exceeded expectations... that you didn't drown. Don't spend your days looking to be a 'bad-man' - try to be a good one. Our biggest failure is that our actions have left you not knowing how precious you are. We have left you unaware of your worth to us. You are precious to us. Give yourself the chance to grow enough to understand why.

Usher has just hit no 1 on the Billboard album chart in the USA with his new album 'Here I Stand.' The follow up to his 2004's diamond selling 'Confessions' moved 433,000 copies in its first week, not bad!

'Here I Stand' has had the second biggest first week sales of this year. Mariah Carey's 'E=MC2' sold 463,000 copies in the first week. Both are pretty good returns in the first week though!

Usher also went in at no 1 here on the top 40 album chart off the strength of 'Love in this club.

Frankmusik- When Your Around

I have been working with Frankmusik on some new stuff. He has just been signed by Island/Universal. I'd say his music is sort of electro pop, certainly fresh! I met him at a 'trainerspotter' (www.myspace.com/trainerspotter) photo shoot at 93 Feet East. we have made some sick stuff! You'll hear it soon.

This is Dizzee's new video for the Calvin Harris produced, 'Dance wiv me,' featuring Chrome. The video is directed by Mark Anthony.

I like the relaxed club vibe of the video. The video is similar in the look of the camera as Nerd, 'Everyone Nose' and Snoop's 'Sensual Seduction.' This type of video is getting very popular at the moment. As i have said before the song is f'd!

I was surprised to read that Jesse Mccartney co wrote Leona Lewis' worldwide no 1 smash 'Bleeding Love.' He co wrote it with Ryan Tedder, the lead singer from One Republic.

Even though he has a hit on his hands stateside with 'Leavin,' he could live off the royalties of 'Bleeding Love.'

Some songs from 'The Carter 3,' Weezy's new mixtape, hae been leaked on the internet by mixtape dj's. Weezy made comments about mixtape dj's in 'Foundation,' an American magazine, 'Fuck you if your a mixtape dj.'

The comments seemed directed at dj's who have used Wayne's music without permission, most notably the dj called The Empire who regularly uses Waynes music without permission.

'The Carter 3' is out June 10th and his expected to sell very well. However since Wayne made these comments links for songs off the new album have appeared on the internet. Certain dj's have come forward and admitted to leaking the music.

This seems very harsh as Wayne's music keeps coming out on new mixtapes and he doesn't know anything about it.

England beat USA 2-0 last night at wembely in which David beckham won his 101st England cap. He was awarded a golden cap before the game by Sir Bobby.

John Terry and Steven Gerrard scored the goals. Still quite a boring game, at least my man Jermaine Defoe started. he has deserved that for a long time.

If I was on the pitch England would have won by more, with me and Jermaine upfront!

I'm disappointed that John Terry was given the captains armband.

Duffy-Warwick Avenue

I really like this song. This is the second single from Wales' finest, Duffy. I havn't got her album (Rockferry) yet but I do plan on doing so! I prefer this song compared with Mercy and the video is very simple but clever, really suites the song.

This tune is out now digitally and will be out physically 26th May.

It's A Par- Wiley, Me, Flodan and Messy

Grime Wave is finally out now everywhere (HMV, Zaavi and Itunes etc). Grime Wave has twelve tracks of pure grime! The reviews have been excellent so far, always good seeing that! Of the back of 'Wearing My Rolex' it should sell nicely aswell. Front page advertising on Itunes is a big look for any album.

I've featured 'It's A Par,' which is the first of the tracks i'm featured on. Instrumental is sick. The other track I featured on is 'Living In London.' check it out.
